Ekushey Padak-winning journalist and former Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Gaziul Hasan Khan, along with poets Subrata Pal and Junan Nashit, received the Kabiyal Sahitya Award.
The awards were presented today at the ‘Kabiyal Utsab-2026’ held at the Chitrashala Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy under the theme ‘Poetry Will Eradicate Discrimination’.
The festival was organised to preserve Bengal’s folk culture, traditional Kobigan and indigenous heritage and pass them on to the younger generation.
Expressing his feelings after receiving the award, Gaziul Hasan Khan stressed the need to showcase Bangladesh’s culture on the global stage. He expressed hope that the Kabiyal Foundation would take initiatives in this regard, saying the country would progress if its art and culture were properly presented.

The programme was chaired by Kabiyal Foundation Chairman Professor Dr Mu. Nazrul Islam Tamijee, while former Additional Inspector General of Police Sardar Tamijuddin Ahmed addressed the event as the main speaker.
Kabiyal Foundation Governor Bappi Saha delivered the welcome address.
